These quick and easy Air Fryer Pork Chops are breaded with panko breadcrumbs for extra crispiness on the outside yet tender and juicy on the inside. A nice change from fried pork chops with a lot less mess and calories, and they are much crispier than baking them in the oven.
These are always a welcome sight on the dinner table. They go well with so many side dishes, but I love to serve them with roasted sweet potatoes. Easy Southern Fried Apples and Southern Green Beans. If you like the chops, you have got to try my air fryer chicken breast with sweet potato fries.
How to make Air Fryer Pork Chops
Pat the pork chop dry with paper towels. Then coat the chops with the flour mixture, then dip them into the egg mixture, then into the panko breadcrumb/parmesan mixture. Lightly spray or mist both sides of the pork chop with a little olive oil. Then place in an air fryer basket in a single layer and cook for about 4 minutes. Gently flip the pork chops and cook for another 4 minutes or until the pork chop reaches an internal temperature of 145 degrees. For best results, serve promptly.
Recipe notes and helpful tips
- Always preheat the air fryer for about 3-5 minutes.
- Pro-Tip – avoid the dreaded breading fingers and use one hand for the dry ingredients and the opposite hand for the egg mixture.
- This recipe is written for chops that are cut about 1/2 inch thick.
- If desired, spice it up a bit with a little Cajun Seasoning, Old Bay Seasoning, dried oregano, or dried thyme.
- Avoid overcooked and dry pork chops with an instant-read thermometer. Pork chops are cooked through enough when they reach an internal temperature of 145 degrees.
- These are best served about five minutes after coming out of the air fryer; however, if delayed, put the chop back in the preheated air fryer for about 1 minute.
- I use Italian panko breadcrumbs for ease, but you can use regular panko breadcrumbs and add one teaspoon of Italian seasoning.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in the air fryer or in the microwave at reduced power.
Bone-in or boneless pork chops
I have always found bone-in pork chops to be more tender, flavorful, and juicy. It does take up a little more room in an air fryer, but I always purchase bone-in chops. Boneless pork chops might be more convenient, but because the bone and most of the fat have been removed, the flavor and texture have been compromised.
Of course, you can certainly use boneless pork chops for this recipe. Boneless pork chops take slightly longer than bone in. Pork chops are done when they reach an internal temperature of 145 degrees.
Why are my pork chops dry?
- Always choose bone-in pork chops. The bone keeps the meat moist and gives it flavor.
- Do not overcook the pork chops. For decades people have cooked their pork until it was at least 160 degrees for fear of worms. That parasite has been eliminated from pork, and the new USDA guidelines are to cook pork to 145 degrees. Invest in an instant-read meat thermometer, and you won’t have to worry about dry pork.
- Give the pork chops just a few minutes to rest. If you cut into it right away, all the juices will flow out. Let the juices redistribute, and enjoy a more succulent chop.

Great recipe for an air fryer. I have to say not near enough seasoning for the south. I used plain Panko next time I will season it as as well. Thank you for sharing
