Garden Salad with Homemade Buttermilk Ranch
This easy garden salad combines iceberg lettuce with fresh vegetables like tomatoes, cucumbers, red onions, and radishes. It is drizzled with a homemade buttermilk dressing and topped with chopped hard-boiled eggs and homemade croutons. I love to serve this salad with grilled chicken, country-style ribs, grilled shrimp, and baked meatloaf.
What’s in a Garden Salad
For the ranch dressing, you need mayonnaise, buttermilk, sour cream, garlic, onion powder, fresh chives, fresh dill, fresh parsley, kosher salt, black pepper, and a lemon for juice.
For the salad, you need iceberg lettuce, cherry or grape tomatoes, hard-boiled eggs, English cucumber, red onion, radishes, and croutons.
How to Make a Garden Salad
Whisk together the mayonnaise, buttermilk, and sour cream in a medium bowl until smooth and creamy. Add the garlic, onion powder, chives, dill, and parsley. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Whisk in the lemon juice, adding more or less to taste. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
Then, add the iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, sliced cucumber, sliced red onions, radishes, chopped hard-boiled eggs, and homemade croutons to a large serving bowl. Drizzle the desired amount of dressing over the salad and toss to coat.
