Crack Dip is a fun and tasty, crowd-pleasing, easy ranch dip recipe that is perfect for movie nights, game days, and parties. This cream cheese dip is loaded with sharp cheddar cheese, bacon, green onion, and ranch seasoning.
Loveable Crack Dip
This dip comes with a word of caution as the flavor is slightly addicting. Serve this delicious dip recipe with a variety of crackers, chips, and veggies like broccoli florets and cucumber slices. If you like this dip, you will love my French onion dip, corn dip, 7-layer dip, and smoked salmon dip.
Easy Ingredients for Crack Dip
- Dairy – cream cheese, sour cream, sharp cheddar cheese
- Seasoning – ranch dressing mix and freshly ground black pepper
- Meat – crispy cooked bacon
- Veggies – green onions and broccoli, celery, carrots, and cucumber slices for dipping
- Assorted Dippers – crackers, potato chips, pita chips, and pretzels
How to make Crack Dip
First, set aside 1 tablespoon of shredded cheddar, chopped bacon, and green onions. Then add the cream cheese, sour cream, ranch seasoning mix, shredded cheddar cheese, green onions, and ground pepper to a medium mixing bowl. Beat the mixture with a handheld electric mixer until smooth and creamy. Stir in the chopped bacon. Spoon into a serving bowl and garnish with cheddar, bacon, and green onions that are set aside. Cover and refrigerate for 1 hour before serving.
Recipe tips
- For ease in making the dip creamy, bring the cream cheese to room temperature.
- Real bacon bits can be substituted for the crisp chopped bacon.
- Slice the green onions thin with a sharp knife. It is fine to use both green and white parts of the green onion.
- This dip is also delicious served warm. Just spread it in a small baking dish and bake in a 400-degree oven for about 20 minutes. Garnish with green onions and bacon bits.
- Serve with crackers, potato chips, tortilla chips, pretzel crisps, Fritos, carrot sticks, celery sticks, or bell pepper wedges.
Variations for Crack Dip
- Cheeses – my favorite cheese for this dip is sharp cheddar, but other cheeses that are delicious and work well include white cheddar, pepper jack, and Monterey Jack.
- Add a little heat – add a little minced jalapeno, ground cayenne pepper, or chopped chipotle pepper with adobo sauce.
- Protein – add cooked ground sausage or finely chopped cooked chicken.
Storage
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days. Stir before reserving, and if available, top with a sprinkle of shredded cheddar cheese and freshly sliced green onions.

I love crack dip! I’ve made it with buffalo chicken, though, not bacon. My son would love it with bacon as he’s obsessed.
