These croffles, also known as croissant waffles, are quick and easy to make and so incredibly delicious that you will want to make them again and again. Refrigerated ready-made crescent rolls are rolled in cinnamon sugar and placed on a preheated waffle iron for just a couple of minutes or until golden brown.
Enjoy these tasty treats for breakfast, snack, or dessert. I like them rolled in cinnamon sugar, but you can also stuff them before cooking them on the waffle iron. Try a spread of cream cheese with some jam or sliced strawberries, or bananas and Nutella or peanut butter. What is a croffle?
A croffle is an unbaked croissant or crescent roll that is cooked in a waffle iron. It is as simple as that. They are quick, fun, and easy to make. Kids love them and adults enjoy the simplicity.

- Refrigerated ready-to-bake crescent rolls: Crescent rolls can be found in the refrigerator section of your local grocery store. You can also make these with puff pastry, but you will need to cut your triangles.
- Oil: vegetables, canola, or grapeseed
- Toppings: Top with soft butter, warm syrup, confectioners’ sugar, whipped cream, fresh fruit, yogurt, egg, cheddar cheese, or peanut butter.
How to make a Croffle (Croissant Waffle)

First, combine the sugar and cinnamon in a shallow, wide bowl. Preheat the waffle iron and brush the plates with oil if needed. Then, open the tube and unroll the crescent roll dough. Separate the dough into eight triangles. Starting with the wide end roll towards the narrow end or the pointed end. Then, roll the crescent rolls through the cinnamon sugar.
Place one or two of the sugared crescent rolls on your waffle iron (depending on its size) and close the lid. Cook for 1 1/2-3 minutes or until golden brown. Carefully remove the croffles from the waffle iron. Plate and top with soft butter and warm maple syrup or dust with powdered sugar.
Preparation Tips
- For best results, brush the waffle iron with vegetable oil or canola oil. It will help with cleanup.
- Cook for 1 1/2-3 minutes or just until golden brown, so keep a close eye on them until you establish a cooking time.
- Once cooled, store the croffles in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days. Reheat in the toaster or the microwave for short increments (15 seconds) until warm.
Freeze and Reheat
To freeze, cool completely, then place the croffles on a baking sheet without touching each other. Place the baking sheet on a flat-level surface in the freezer. This technique is known as flash freezing. Once frozen, transfer the croffles to a freezer zipper bag and freeze for up to 3 months. This will allow you to take 1-2 croffles out of the freezer bag without them being stuck together.
Reheat from frozen on the stovetop in a skillet over medium heat, in the toaster or toaster oven, or an air fryer just until crispy.
