Tender Steak Bites in delicious garlic butter sauce are an easy appetizer or main entree. Succulent, juicy, and so full of flavor, these bites are pure heaven. I love to serve them over homemade mashed potatoes or alfredo noodles with roasted broccoli or roasted asparagus.
How to make Steak Bites
If the sirloin steak you use for this recipe is from the bottom and not top sirloin, it is best to pound and marinate it to tenderize it. It is easy to do, and with some planning, you can save a little money. Whisk together the balsamic vinegar, soy sauce, olive oil, Worcestershire Sauce, and 3 cloves of minced garlic in a bowl. Add the sirloin to the marinade, cover, and refrigerate from 2 to 6 hours. Remove the sirloin steak from the marinade. Dry the steaks with paper towels and cut them into bite-size pieces.
Heat the vegetable oil over medium high heat in a heavy pan or cast iron skillet. Add the steak pieces in a single layer and cook undisturbed for 2 minutes. Flip the steak and cook it for another 1-2 minutes. Remove the cooked steak to a large plate. Cook in batches if needed. Wipe the skillet clean or wash it. Melt the butter in the skillet over low heat. Add the minced garlic, cooking for 1 minute while stirring. Add the steak bites back to the skillet and stir to coat with the garlic butter. Season with salt and pepper to taste and sprinkle with fresh chopped parsley.
Recipe Notes
- Do not marinate the sirloin for more than 6 hours. The acid in the marinade will break down the proteins too much and change the texture of the meat.
- If using top sirloin, tenderloin, ribeye, and New York strip steak, marinating them is unnecessary.
- Get the vegetable oil really hot so that you can sear the steak bites. Cook the steak bites undisturbed for 2 minutes before flipping them. Then cook for just another 1-2 minutes, depending on how you like your steak.
- These steak bites are best served promptly. Although they can be reheated, it does dry them out a little bit.
What to serve with steak bites
There are so many good options. These tasty bites are so good with mashed potatoes, fettuccine alfredo, rice, scalloped potatoes, or buttered egg noodles. For veggies, try a side of steamed broccoli, roasted asparagus, or green bean bundles. Or serve with cheese garlic bread, beer bread, or homemade rolls. For an appetizer, serve with homemade onion rings, gorgonzola cheese, or a jalapeno popper cheese ball.
Storage and Reheat
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat on the stovetop over low heat or in the microwave at reduced power.
If reheating these steak bites, serve them with my onion gravy over mashed potatoes. They are so delicious you will not even realize they have been reheated.

I’m on a really tight budget. What other cut of meat could I use that is inexpensive. Your recipe sounds delicious!
Beth Pierce
I am sorry but some of the cheaper cuts of beef are so tough that need to be slow cooked. You might have so good luck with London Broil but you would need marinate longer 12-24 hours. You would also need to cook the meat medium rare.
