Why You Will Love This Recipe
- This milk is so delicious that you will wonder how in the world you have made it this long without it!
- Keep it natural by skipping the dye or using all-natural dye from plants, vegetables, and seeds.
- With just a few ingredients and a few minutes of effort, the fresh taste of strawberries is all yours. This recipe is easy enough for the tweens to help.
Strawberry Milk Ingredients
How to make Strawberry Milk
Add the water, sugar, and strawberries to a saucepan over medium heat and simmer gently for 10-12 minutes. Then, strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer, gently pressing the strawberries against the mesh to extract as much of that beautiful juice as possible. Let it chill down for a bit, then pour a couple of tablespoons into a well-chilled glass of milk and stir to combine. If desired, add 1-2 drops of red food coloring and a little pop of whipped cream.
Pro-Tips
- Both fresh and frozen strawberries work well with this recipe.
- The milk turns pale pink, so add a few drops of food coloring if you want more color.
- McCormick sells natural food coloring made from plants, veggies, and seeds.
- Store the strawberry syrup in the fridge in a sealable container like a mason jar for up to 2 weeks. That way, you can use it to make a quick glass at a moment’s notice.
- I prefer whole dairy milk with this recipe, but 2% will also work; however, it will not be as creamy. If you have any half-and-half or cream in the refrigerator, add a little splash and stir to combine.
- For a vegan, dairy-free version, try almond milk, soy milk, coconut milk, soy milk, oat milk, or cashew milk.
- Try maple syrup, honey, or stevia for an alternate sugar-free sweetener. Just sweeten to taste.
- Don’t be too quick to throw out those mashed strawberries. They are delicious in a bowl of Greek yogurt, vanilla ice cream, or even cottage cheese.
