Cook the onions in melted butter or pork lard, then remove them to a plate.

Add the beef stew meat and brown on both sides. Add the onions back to the pot, followed by the garlic, salt, fresh ground black pepper, sweet paprika, and caraway seeds. Cook.

Add the diced tomatoes, beef broth, and bay leaves. Simmer.
