¼cuplow-sodium soy sauce
1tablespoonfresh ginger
½cupketchup
½cup pineapple juice
1tablespoonchili sauce (sambal oelek)
Instructions
Preheat oven to 325-degrees.
Brown the pork steaks on the grill or in a cast iron skillet with a bit of oil. Put the pork steaks in a single layer in a large pan.
Whisk the honey, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, ginger, ketchup, pineapple juice, and chili sauce. Baste the pork chops with a third of the sauce.
Cover and bake for 45 minutes, then baste again, cover and cook for another 45 minutes, and baste one more time, cover and cook until tender about 10-30 minutes.
Notes
Pork steaks are cut from the shoulder and are best cooked for 1 1/2-2 hours at a low temperature to tenderize.
Baste the pork steaks several times. This will help tenderize them and seal the flavor.
Sear the meat on the grill or in a cast iron skillet on the stovetop. It adds flavor and caramelization to the final dish.
